Culture Kits

The Kits allow us to experience the uniqueness of each culture through close contact and hands-on personal experience. Short of traveling to the areas ourselves and living among the people, the Ethnic Arts & Facts Kits will contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the people of the world and our relationships to them. As we learn to understand, appreciate, and respect our differences and similarities, in the past and in contemporary life, we will have a better understanding of ourselves and our own roles in the world.

The Story.

Ethnic Arts & Facts was an outgrowth of the travels of Susan Drexler, former teacher in Oakland, CA. She travelled extensively throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America. After a trip to China in 1973 and a later trip to Peru in 1984, she brought back artifacts which she began using in her classroom to teach about the countries and cultures she had visited. After seeing how much the students enjoyed seeing and touching the artifacts and realizing how the artifacts made the teaching come alive, she realized this would be useful for other teachers as well. As a result, she founded the company Ethnic Arts & Facts specializing in providing culture kits to allow students and teachers a hands-on resource on the diverse cultures and traditions around the world.
